The original building was built in the 1830's when it was the residence of merchant Lobov and his family. It went through many enlargements through the years becoming the St.Petersburg Railway Club in 1912. During soviet times, it went through reconstruction to host the House of Culture from 1936 until 2000 where lots of performances took place.
