The Tver carriage-building plant has started the launch of double-decker passenger wagons by request of the Federal Passenger Company. Such two-storeyed rail-cars has 60% higher seating capacity in comparison with ordinary trains. The first two-storeyed train is going to start running in the end of summer 2013. Three such train are expected to ply from Moscow to Adler including carrying the fans during 2014 Winter Olympics. In economy class cars there will be 104 seats, in business class ones - 29 comfortable seats. All the wagons will be equipped with air-conditioning systems, toilets, Wi-Fi and sound insulation. Their expected service life is 40 years and tickets will be cheaper than for ordinary trains. LLC “Aeroexpress” has signed a contract with the Swiss manufacturer Stadler Rail Group for supplying more than 100 double-decker trains next year. They will be developed on the basis of the already well known Swiss KISS trains. The new trains will be able to achieve a speed of 160 kilometers per hour. Nowdays an ordinary Aeroexpress trains can carry from 500 to 700 people, but double-decker trains are able to carry 1100 people at one ride. So, carrying capacity of Aeroexpress trains will increase by 30-40%. |
