The house in which the Kassel Hotel is located is an architectural monument of the early 20th century. The wooden mansion in the Art Nouveau architectural style was built by order of a German merchant. The merchant's family left their home in the early 30s of the last century, and the premises were converted into communal apartments. In the 60s, the communal apartments were resettled, and the building was abandoned.
In 1988, the German city of Kassel became a sister city of Yaroslavl. At the initiative of the Lord Mayor of Kassel and the Vice President of the University of Kassel, restoration of the house began. German architects completely restored the building and the original layout of the house, and in 1994 the House of Russian-German Friendship was opened there, and then the first German Language Center in Russia. A hotel for employees from Germany was arranged on the second floor. This is how the hotel got its name.
Today, the cozy Kassel Hotel is one of the most beautiful buildings in Yaroslavl. The hotel has 8 rooms, its undoubted advantages are its wonderful location in the historical center of the city, a fenced parking lot and a beautiful working fireplace.
