More than seven centuries ago there was found a miraculous icon Sign of the Mother of God Kursk Root. On the place of finding there is a life-giving spring around which more than four hundred years there is an Orthodox Monastery Root Christmas-Bogorodichny man's desert which became one of the main spiritual centres of Russia.
