The sixteenth (2010-2011) edition of the Best Eurasian Hotels (Best Eastern Hotels) catalogue, covering the best hotels of Russia and other countries of the former USSR has been published jointly by Russian companies Best Eastern Hotels Ltd. and Academservice Ltd.

The fifteenth (2009-2010) edition was seriously revised by the authors: if negotiations with hotels on their joining the Best Eurasian Hotels marketing chain dragged on unreasonably, they were excluded from the catalogue. At present there are 1090 hotels included into the catalogue. They represent 172 cities in the post-Soviet territory. In the directory there are again represented Alushta, Berezniki, Chernivtsi, Elets, Gudermes, Makhachkala, Murom, Norilsk, Novocherkassk, Pervouralsk, Simferopol, Svetlogorsk, Uzhgorod, Vladikavkaz, Vyksa, Yugorsk.

Almost all hotels in the catalogue are members of the marketing hotel chain Best Eurasian Hotels, except for some hotels in the course of active negotiations; these are published without colour photographs. Information concerning each hotel is valid for the moment the hotels filled in special questionnaires before the catalogue was given in print.

Apart from new hotels which appeared in the new catalogue, the following changes were made in the sixteenth edition: all misprints and mistakes were corrected; some city maps were added; the number of icons representing hotel services was essentially increased; on the pages for a number of the hotels represented in Global/Alternative Distribution Systems (GDS/ADS) by Best Eurasian Hotels (Best Eastern Hotels) GDS/ADS codes were added. Maps of hotel locations in the cities of the Russian Federation for users convenience have been moved to the beginning of the catalogue prior to the hotels' descriptions.

Hotel classification introduced by the authors to compare hotels of different cities and countries of the former USSR hasn’t changed. However the hotels' conformity to categories was again seriously revised. To assign an appropriate category to a hotel the authors comprehensively analyzed all the factors related to it, namely: hotel location in relation to the historical and business centre of the city; architectural and historic importance of the hotel building; room conditions; affiliation of the hotel with an international hotel chain; management standards; list of services provided; rack rate level; hotel policy towards partners and guests, etc.

The catalogue has the circulation of 50,000 copies and is distributed among foreign embassies, consulates, Chambers of Commerce and Trade, air, trade and corporate companies’ representative offices and travel agencies in 150 countries worldwide, at 30 largest international and national exhibitions. For many years due to its wide geographical coverage and scope of information this catalogue has been the most popular guide to hotels in the ex-USSR territory. You can get the catalogue at the office of Academservice and Best Eurasian Hotels in 28a Shipilovskaya street, Moscow.
