Shirokaya Maslenitsa on the Vasilivskii spusk has crossed the Moscow borders and became a large all-Russian event. The Moscow Maslenitsa celebration, traditionally organized by the city committee for tourism, has been officially entered in the Catalogue for Famous International Festivals and Holidays of Europe and the world. This year the main events of the Maslenitsa celebration will occur from the 4th of March until the 6th.

The anniversary status implies a particularly interesting program and new events. This includes video chats with various cities in Russia and all over the world who are also celebrating this holiday. The head of the Moscow Tourism Committee, Sergey Shpilko, noted that a video chat will occur between Vasilivskii spusk and Trafalgar Square in London. Then organizers of the celebration in London invited various Russian Olympic champions and Russian show business stars.

The folklore festival “Shirokaya Maslenitsa” will occur for the first time on Sunday, the 6th of March on the most important Maslenitsa stage in the country. Folklore groups from 12 different regions of Russia will take part in this event. The event will be judged by known cultural figures.

The attendance of this year Maslenitsa celebration on the Vasilivskii spusk will be more than 300 thousand Moscow citizens and guests. Safety and order during the celebration will be maintained by a special police force.
