In September 2008 the Baikal Plaza hotel complex gained the official 4-star status. On November 13 the 4-star certificate was presented to the hotel. The award ceremony was conducted by Vladimir Efimov, the expert of the Russian Hotel Association, who had arrived from Moscow with this purpose. Today the Baikal Plaza is the only hotel in Buryatia that has earned the star status. Conformity of the hotel to this category was discussed during the conference “Baikal region. Hotel business: experience, problems, prospects”, which took place in Buryatia. During the inspection the experts comprehensively analyzed not only the technical state of the hotel but also the level of available services. This information was received from the press service of the President and the Government of the Republic of Buryatia.

In August the Baikal Plaza hotel complex applied for the 4-star certification. The commission expertized the hotel, drew up conformity reports to refer them to the Certification Committee. The press service of the Government of Buryatia informed that the Baikal Plaza was awarded the 4-star category at the session of the Committee in the Federal Agency for Tourism. The hotel classification system is voluntary, and the state acts as a guarantor of the hotel’s compliance to all the requirements of a certain category, the press service emphasized.

The Baikal Plaza is located in the very city centre of Ulan-Ude, in immediate proximity to large shopping centers, best restaurants and other attractions of the city. The hotel faces Sovetov Square and the central avenues of Ulan-Ude. The hotel offers accommodation in 68 rooms, including Standard, Suite and Apartment.
