In January, 2015 Belmond Grand Hotel Europe (St.Petersburg) celebrated it's 140th anniversary. Up to 700 guests were invited to an evening of entertainment including a musical light show that took guests through the product's impressive history using amazing 3D projections. The evening also included performences by an orchestra of 50 musicians, a lively history of famous guests that had stayed at the hotel - which included an impromptu concert by Elton John back in 1979. Tens of meters buffets were served with treats that 60 chefs were preparing for three days, 300 bottles of premium champagne, hundreds of wine bottles and 30 bottles of French cognac XO were drunk. Guests were also offered a tour of the new Avant-Garde suites at the hotel and the celebrations ended with General Director Sjefke Jansen reading out the official congratulations from Russia's President Administration Head, Sergey Ivanov, who thanked the hotel for its outstanding hospitality and wished them the prosperity and success. |
