The Grand Hotel Europe has been listed for the fifth time in T+L 500 register of the best 500 hotels and resorts of the world, which is composed by the authoritative American Travel + Leisure magazine. The Grand Hotel Europe has become the only Russian hotel stated in this list. Tchaikovsky musical evenings held on Fridays at L’Europe restaurant were particularly mentioned.
     The T+L 500 list has been published seven times. A team of journalists and editors has inspected the best 500 hotels and resorts of the world selected after the World’s Best reader’s survey. The assessment considered five characteristic groups: rooms/amenities, location, quality of service, restaurants/food, quality-price ratio.
     The Grand Hotel Europe is one of the most famous hotels of St.Petersburg located in the very heart of the city. For more than 130 years the hotel is providing high-quality service for guests of the northern capital, and in recent years it has become a venue for many business events of international significance.
     The hotel is reviving old St.Petersburg traditions in culture and charity being the organizer of the annual Gold Autumn Pushkin charity ball. On Fridays the hotel arranges Tchaikovsky musical evenings at L’Europe restaurant paying tribute to the great Russian composer who stayed here several times. A chamber orchestra performs Tchaikovsky’s music, and the White Adagio from the Swan’s Lake performed by dancers of St.Petersburg ballet is the culmination point of the evening.

The past year of 2008 has become a record award-winning period for the Grand Hotel Europe:

• Grand Prix of the Villegiature Awards contest as the best hotel in Europe,
• The Wine Spectator award for the distinguished wine carte of L’Europe restaurant,
• Forbes Traveler 400, the list of the best hotels of the world made by Forbes Traveler magazine,
• One of the best 100 hotels in 2008 according to Sunday Times Travel magazine,
• The best hotel in Russia – 2008 according to Afisha-Mir travel and lifestyle magazine.

Since 2005 the Grand Hotel Europe has been carrying out step-by-step refurbishment. At present 250 out of 300 rooms have been renovated, including 9 Historic Suites. Interior of the Caviar bar and restaurant and the main entrance to the hotel have been renewed as well. The new concept of the Mezzanine cafe’s interior has been put into practice, and now the cafe features a fireplace.
